View original image[Asia Economy Reporter Dongwoo Lee] LG Electronics announced on the 28th that it will launch the InstaView refrigerator and Convertible refrigerator in Europe. Starting with Sweden at the end of next month, it plans to sequentially introduce them to more than 20 European countries including the UK, France, and Italy by the first half of next year.
The LG InstaView refrigerator is a top refrigerator and bottom freezer model with a capacity of 569ℓ, equipped with a dispenser that provides water and ice. The freezer compartment at the bottom produces spherical ice called craft ice with a diameter of about 5cm, while the ice dispenser at the top can make cubed and crushed ice.
The product’s ‘UVnano’ feature periodically uses UV (ultraviolet) LEDs to sterilize 99.99% of bacteria at the water outlet where purified water is dispensed. It can also be sterilized by pressing a button directly. According to tests conducted by the global certification body TUV Rheinland, this function removes 99.99% of E. coli, Staphylococcus aureus, and Pseudomonas aeruginosa.
The LG Convertible refrigerator comes in two types: a 386ℓ capacity refrigerator-only model and a 324ℓ capacity freezer-only model. It allows efficient storage of various ingredients in multiple compartments. Although only one unit can be purchased and installed, placing two units side by side creates the effect of a single appliance.
The two new refrigerator models feature differentiated cooling performance. The ‘24-hour Auto Temperature Control’ function maintains the interior temperature within ±0.5 degrees Celsius of the set temperature, helping to keep food fresh for a longer time. The ‘DoorCooling+’ function evenly cools the refrigerator door by delivering strong cold air from the top of the refrigerator compartment.
They are equipped with LG Electronics’ differentiated core component, the ‘Inverter Linear Compressor.’ Unlike conventional compressors that rotate, the linear compressor moves in a straight line, resulting in less energy loss during power transmission and higher energy efficiency. The inverter technology allows precise control of the refrigerator by freely adjusting the motor speed. Its simpler structure compared to conventional compressors also ensures superior durability.
LG Electronics plans to introduce the two new refrigerator models at a 3D virtual exhibition prepared for IFA 2020, the international electronics trade show held in Berlin, Germany, in early next month. Anyone can access and experience it through the global website on PC or mobile devices.
