[Asia Economy Reporter Hyunju Lee] Dongduk Women's University announced on the 27th that Im Young-seo, a senior in the Department of Information Statistics, won the Excellence Award at the '2020 Korea Computer Congress (KCC 2020) Undergraduate Paper Competition' hosted by the Korea Information Science Society. Im Young-seo presented a paper titled "RNN (Recurrent Neural Network)-Based Gastric Cancer Occurrence Prediction Model in Chronic Gastritis Patients Using Medical Big Data," proposing a machine learning model that applies recurrent neural networks to predict the likelihood of gastric cancer occurrence in chronic gastritis patients through joint research with Hallym University College of Medicine. The proposed deep learning-based gastric cancer prediction model learns from diagnostic medical records related to chronic gastritis to predict patients with a high risk of developing gastric cancer.
