Active Resolution of Welfare Blind Spots through Rapid Investigation and Regulatory Relaxation
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Chunsu] Goheung-gun, Jeonnam announced on the 27th that it is doing its best to improve the welfare awareness of residents by providing customized welfare benefits according to the needs of residents through prompt and accurate income and property investigations for applicants of social security benefits such as the National Basic Livelihood Security, elderly, and disabled.
In particular, in the first half of 2020, to commemorate the 20th anniversary of the enactment of the National Basic Livelihood Security Act, wide-ranging improvements were made to the basic livelihood security system and extensive rights protection for beneficiaries was carried out.
The main contents include △ exemption from the support obligation criteria if the beneficiary is a severely disabled person △ first application of a 30% deduction on earned income for beneficiaries aged 25 to 64 △ significant expansion of the basic property deduction for beneficiaries △ reduction of the support cost imposition rate (from 30% to 10%), and various other system relaxations, resulting in the designation and support of 849 households as beneficiaries in the first half of 2020 alone.
Additionally, to protect residents who exceeded legal criteria such as the support obligation standard but are actually struggling in daily life, Goheung-gun held six subcommittee meetings of the Local Livelihood Security Committee and decided to additionally protect 32 households and 46 welfare recipients, actively working to eliminate welfare blind spots.
Also, in the first half of this year, in accordance with the implementation of the Jeonnam-type emergency living expense support project for COVID-19, considering the urgency of support, efforts were made to promptly investigate and select recipients through night and holiday work, ultimately selecting 25,716 households and providing emergency living expenses.
