"Among 20,885 Kwanghwamun Rally Test Subjects, 38 Confirmed Cases So Far"
Seoul City Secures Additional List of 13,939 People
[Asia Economy Reporter Jo In-kyung] The Seoul Metropolitan Government announced on the 27th that it has additionally secured the list of about 13,000 people subject to COVID-19 diagnostic testing related to the Gwanghwamun rally held on the 15th.
Earlier, on the 15th, Seoul had secured the list of 6,949 people who attended the Gwanghwamun rally or stayed nearby for more than 30 minutes, and issued an emergency administrative order for them to undergo diagnostic testing by the 26th.
At a briefing on the morning of the 27th, Kwak Jong-bin, Director of the Seoul Metropolitan Government's Autonomous Administration Division, said, "We received an additional notification of 13,939 cases from the Central Disaster and Safety Countermeasures Headquarters the day before," adding, "We are guiding the newly identified subjects to promptly get tested."
Accordingly, the total number of people subject to diagnostic testing identified by Seoul, including the existing list, is 20,885. Among them, 4,154 have been tested so far, with 38 confirmed positive. 1,873 responded in the Seoul survey that they plan to undergo diagnostic testing in the future.
The city also started a visit investigation with police cooperation from the previous day targeting those who could not be contacted, but many of them were either absent or whereabouts unknown.

Director Kwak said, "We will urge those who cannot be reached by phone or refuse testing to get tested as much as possible," and added, "If it is confirmed that those who refused testing were infected due to attending the rally or visiting nearby, we will consider claiming compensation."
