[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Cheol-hyun] On the first day of the second general strike (collective medical institution closure) by the Korea Medical Association (KMA) on the 26th, the closure rate of clinic-level medical institutions was 10.8%.
According to the Ministry of Health and Welfare on that day, as of 12 PM, out of 32,787 clinic-level medical institutions nationwide across 17 cities and provinces, 3,549 were closed. The number of clinic-level medical institutions that had pre-registered their intention to close was 2,097 (6.4%).

The government has stated its position to respond strictly to the collective closure of medical institutions. Minister of Health and Welfare Park Neung-hoo said in a briefing, "If local governments determine that the participation rate of clinic-level medical institutions in the collective closure exceeds 10% and causes disruption to medical services, the relevant public health center can issue an order to resume operations."
