Gwangju Dong-gu Installs 'Literature Vending Machine' on 1st Floor of Main Office Bookstore
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Park Seon-gang] Dong-gu, Gwangju Metropolitan City (Mayor Im Taek) announced on the 26th that it has installed a literature vending machine at ‘Chaekjeongwon’ located on the first floor of the district office, where people can briefly enjoy literary works in a short time.
The literature vending machine is a vending machine that prints good phrases or excerpts from literary works such as poems, novels, and essays in the form of paper receipts. It is a new reading platform where you can instantly access about 2,000 literary works for free.
First introduced in European subways such as London and Paris, it has also been introduced domestically and is gradually expanding its installation range amid high public response.
The literature vending machine installed at the district office measures 33 cm wide, 25 cm deep, and 1 m high, providing a brief moment of relaxation with quality literary works amid a busy daily life.
By pressing the machine’s button during waiting times at the civil service desk or short breaks, various writings such as essays and novels are randomly dispensed.
The sentences are excerpts from about 2,000 poems, novels, and essays by famous domestic and international authors including Yun Dong-ju, Seo Jeong-ju, Lee Cheong-jun, Han Seung-won, Goethe, and Tolstoy.
Pressing the ‘Long Text’ button dispenses novels and essays within 2,000 characters, while pressing the ‘Short Text’ button provides poems, quotes, and other writings around 500 characters.
