[Asia Economy Reporter Park Jong-il] Gangnam-gu (District Mayor Jung Soon-gyun) has been conducting strengthened on-site crackdowns since the 25th, immediately imposing fines on vehicles illegally parked more than three times within one month at the same location.
The district supplied 60 terminals to parking enforcement officers earlier this month to instantly check the number of warnings (relocation measures) and enforcement status on-site, aiming to block vehicles that repeatedly violate illegal parking despite two prior warnings. However, absolute no-parking zones such as fire facilities, crosswalks, and school zones remain subject to immediate enforcement as before.
Meanwhile, to promote efficient use of parking spaces and resolve illegal parking, the district introduced a ‘Smart Shared Parking Service,’ starting with 500 parking spaces in Cheongdam-dong parking lots and plans to install Internet of Things (IoT) sensors on a total of 1,300 resident-priority parking spaces in the area by September.
