Boseong-gun Character 'BS Samchongsa' Begins First Official Schedule with Morning Greetings
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Park Yong-chul] Boseong-gun, Jeollanam-do announced that the special product characters BS Samchongsa officially started their first schedule on the morning of the 25th with a greeting.
On that day, BS Samchongsa greeted employees in front of the civil service office at Boseong-gun Office, announcing the birth of Boseong-gun’s special product characters and cheering on the staff.
After the morning greeting, BS Samchongsa moved to elementary school routes to bring joy to students and parents.
Also, on the way to school, they promoted COVID-19 safety rules such as distributing masks along with volunteer traffic safety activities at crosswalks.
BS Samchongsa was created based on Boseong’s representative special products: green tea, cockles, and kiwi, and each is set to have been born in Hoecheon-myeon, Beolgyo-eup, and Joseong-myeon, respectively.
In particular, the characters were named “monsters” to match the concept of special products coming to life, and they are active under the names Nokcha-mon (Green Tea-mon), Kkomak-mon (Cockle-mon), and Kiwi-mon.
In the non-face-to-face situation caused by COVID-19, BS Samchongsa plans to be active mainly on Boseong-gun’s YouTube channel in 2020.
A county official said, “We plan to actively promote Boseong’s special products using BS Samchongsa in the future,” adding, “We will plan lively and creative content so that the birth of the characters can directly help the sales of Boseong’s special products.”
Meanwhile, Nokcha-mon is overall colored in the green of the green tea fields, and the leaves on its head symbolize the 1-chang 2-gi (two leaves on one stem), which is considered the best tea. The front hair part symbolizes the Boseong terraced tea fields, which are registered as a national important agricultural heritage.
Kkomak-mon’s face inside the cockle shell shows a playful expression, and its reddish face color symbolizes the bright red color seen when cockles are cooked to perfection. Reflecting the characteristics of cockles grown in the Beolgyo mudflats registered as a Ramsar wetland, the cockle shell part (neck area) contains colors that represent the mudflats.
