According to Gwangju Metropolitan City, a man in his 60s, Mr. A, residing in Munheung-dong, Buk-gu, tested positive for COVID-19 in the afternoon and was classified as 'Gwangju case number 283.'
The source of infection has not yet been identified.
Gwangju City is conducting an epidemiological investigation to determine Mr. A's initial infection route and movement history.
Earlier that morning, two other residents from Sinyong-dong, Buk-gu, and Nodae-dong, Nam-gu, were also confirmed positive for COVID-19.
The three confirmed cases on this day are 'unknown source' patients with unclear infection routes, and quarantine authorities remain vigilant.
Meanwhile, a total of 283 confirmed cases have been reported in the Gwangju area to date. Among them, 241 are local infections, and 42 are imported cases.
By age group, there are 6 under 10, 17 in their teens, 35 in their 20s, 35 in their 30s, 49 in their 40s, 49 in their 50s, 56 in their 60s, 22 in their 70s, 9 in their 80s, and 5 aged 90 and above.
