[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kang Woo-kwon] Gyeongsang National University announced on the 24th that it will sign an agreement with Universiti Teknologi MARA in Malaysia for academic and research personnel exchange.
The signing ceremony was held online, overcoming the COVID-19 pandemic situation, marking the first time an exchange agreement was signed with an overseas university through an online connection.
The ceremony was attended by seven people, including Gyeongsang National University President Kwon Soon-ki, Professor Jeon Man-su of the Department of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering in the College of Engineering who initiated the agreement, and officials from the Office of External Cooperation. Key university headquarters officials, including the president, also attended from Universiti Teknologi MARA.
Gyeongsang National University and Universiti Teknologi MARA have accumulated cooperation achievements over the past four years through programs such as the ASEAN Excellent Student Invitation Program, international academic activities, and student exchanges (supporting expenses for two annual interns for three years, and two graduate international students).
Universiti Teknologi MARA in Malaysia was established in 1956, with approximately 5,260 faculty and staff, about 160,950 students, and 27 colleges.
The university ranks among the top 10 in Malaysia and is a federal university with 35 campuses nationwide.
In particular, the Shah Alam campus independently operates the International Conference on Advances in Mechanical Engineering (ICAME) and publishes internationally recognized academic journals indexed in SCOPUS worldwide.
The mechanical engineering field is highly specialized, selecting about 400 new students annually in this discipline alone.
