View original image[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Daeseop] The Small and Medium Business Technology Information Promotion Agency plans to establish a domestic smart factory standard proposal as early as October this year. Through this, it aims to provide guidelines that enable smart factory demand and supply companies to more easily search for and utilize smart factory-related standards.
According to the agency on the 24th, it has selected a research service institution for the utilization of smart factory standards and will actively identify more than 20 standard development items based on corporate demand starting next month. By investigating and analyzing the current status and requirements of standards for smart factory demand and supply companies, it plans to narrow down standard development items that are actually needed by companies and suitable for field conditions.
The agency will evaluate the impact, urgency, technicality, and policy aspects of the identified standard development items to select standards for priority adoption. It plans to complete the research service, including the preparation of the smart factory standard proposal and the development and presentation of a standard map, by the end of the year. The environment will be created so that small and medium enterprises can easily utilize the standards, and application in the field is planned as early as next year.
This preparation of the smart factory standard proposal is being promoted in line with the direction of expanding usability by presenting standards that can be commonly used by demand and supply companies. This is the first time the agency is conducting research services for the utilization of smart factory standards.
As the hyperconnectivity of smart factories is emphasized, competition to secure international standards is intensifying. Securing international standards allows Korean technology and products to gain an advantage in the global market and also enables market dominance.
The agency plans to create a standard establishment guideline that reflects the voices of smart manufacturing experts and corporate field workers. It will focus on utilizing the Smart Factory Standard Technology Advisory Committee of the Ministry of SMEs and Startups and the Smart Manufacturing Specialized Committee under the National Institute of Technology and Standards.
A smart factory refers to a system that combines information and communication technology (ICT) with traditional manufacturing, where the entire process of raw materials, production processes, distribution, and sales is networked, and all production data and information are shared and utilized in real time to enable optimized production operations. Companies that have introduced smart factories are experiencing effects such as factory innovation, improved working environments, increased productivity, cost reduction, defect rate reduction, and employment growth.
