United Future Party: "Is the Democratic Party's top priority in COVID-19 prevention to oust the opposition leader?"
"Minjunochong did not track or secure the list... Are pro-Moon factions avoiding it?"
[Asia Economy Reporter Lim Chun-han] On the 23rd, the United Future Party criticized the Democratic Party of Korea, saying, “Looking at the ruling party's joint speech meeting, which is more focused on badmouthing the opposition party leader than on the party's pledges, it seems that the Democratic Party's top priority in COVID-19 prevention is to bring down the opposition party leader.”
Kim Eun-hye, spokesperson for the United Future Party, said in a statement that day, “The candidate who repeatedly calls for bringing down Prosecutor General Yoon Seok-yeol, the opposition party leader, and judges does not seem to have the courage to call for investigating the Korean Confederation of Trade Unions, which reportedly gathered more than 2,000 people, by the authorities,” adding, “The quarantine authorities, who do not track or secure lists for pro-government rallies, say the COVID-19 risk level is different for the Korean Confederation of Trade Unions. Is this a pro-Moon COVID that avoids pro-Moon groups?”
Spokesperson Kim pointed out, “Let’s think about the national crisis with daily confirmed cases exceeding 300 in the three-digit range,” and said, “The idea of gathering millions of people indoors, which the opposition party has criticized as going against quarantine measures, was pushed through solely by the Democratic Party, which distributed 2.84 million discount coupons for dining out and movies on a first-come, first-served basis.”
Kim also said, “Ignoring the warnings of Director Jeong Eun-kyung, the government allowed the resumption of small church gatherings at the end of July, and the president praised the world-surprising K-quarantine and its efficient success, saying ‘We are giving a short but precious rest time,’ thereby loosening the guard,” and questioned, “What crime have the trusting citizens committed?”

Spokesperson Kim added, “Allowing rallies for our side while suppressing those for the other side shows hostility. Covering up their quarantine failures by targeting powerless and vulnerable citizens, and exploiting COVID-19, which concerns the lives and safety of the people, to attack other citizens repeatedly feels pitiful, like the actions of a pseudo-group.”
