Everland Official SNS Baby Panda Video Surpasses 10 Million Views
[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Hyewon] Samsung C&T Resort Division publicly released photos of a baby panda born last month and now one month old on the 23rd.
In the photos, the baby panda appears quite chubby, with black markings around its eyes, ears, shoulders, arms, legs, and tail, resembling a black vest, giving it a distinctly cute panda-like appearance.
The female baby panda, the only one born in Korea, was born on the 20th of last month to the only pair of pandas in the country: the female Aibao and the male Lubao. It measures 16.5 cm in length and weighs 197 g.
At birth, it was very small, only about 1/600th of its mother's weight, with pink skin, quite different from the typical image of a panda we are familiar with.
However, around 10 days after birth, black patterns began to appear in the hair follicles where black fur would grow, and within just one month, the baby panda has rapidly grown to about 1 kg, more than five times its birth weight, showing a clearly changed panda appearance.
Currently, the baby panda is living in a special enclosure inside Panda World, being naturally nurtured by its mother Aibao. To monitor the baby panda's development, a dedicated team of veterinarians and keepers separates the baby from the mother every five days for a health checkup.
Additionally, since early this month, to give Aibao some much-needed postpartum rest and to provide nutritional supplementation for the baby panda, a dedicated keeper has been acting as a childcare assistant, caring for the baby panda for three hours daily.
During this time, the baby panda is fed nutrient-rich formula milk from a bottle to aid its growth and development and is helped to take comfortable naps inside an incubator. The mother is also given some alone time for rest and provided with postpartum nourishment such as fresh bamboo and tender bamboo shoots.
Keeper Kang Cheolwon, in charge of the pandas, said, "Both the mother and baby panda are maintaining good health," adding, "Although Aibao is a first-time mother, she shows strong maternal affection, holding her baby all day long."
The baby panda's growth can be followed on Everland's official SNS channels such as YouTube and Instagram. The total views of the videos posted so far have exceeded 10 million, showing great popularity.
From the moment of the baby panda's birth to its growth process, as well as behind-the-scenes stories of the keepers' efforts before the panda was born, various videos are available to watch, and it is said that more and more virtual uncles and aunts are eagerly awaiting the baby panda's growth.
SNS users who have watched the videos have commented, "So adorable? It's the best, my heart is fluttering," "Little wrigglerㅋ I want to pat its little butt," "Just grow up healthy♥ The aunts and uncles only wish for that," and "I think Auntie has fallen for you; she cherishes you deeply."
