[Asia Economy Reporter Jongil Park] Jungnang-gu (Mayor Ryu Kyung-gi) is accepting nominations for the ‘25th Jungnang-gu Citizen Awards’ until September 1.
The ‘Jungnang-gu Citizen Awards’ select one individual (or organization) in each of four categories: Volunteer Award, Filial Piety Award, Model Family Award, and Special Award. Eligible candidates must have resided in Jungnang-gu for more than three years and have made dedicated contributions to community harmony and regional development in their respective fields.
The categories are as follows: ▲Volunteer Award for those who have devoted themselves to serving the community or residents ▲Filial Piety Award for those who honor their parents despite difficult circumstances and serve as role models for others ▲Model Family Award for families spanning three or more generations who have lived rooted in the same area for over ten years, preserving traditional customs and harmony, serving as examples to other families ▲Special Award for individuals who have risked their lives to protect residents’ lives and property, gained significant domestic or international recognition in a specific field, or whose contributions to Jungnang-gu have been especially acknowledged.
Candidates can be recommended by heads of institutions within Jungnang-gu or by the head of each neighborhood community center upon the joint recommendation of at least ten residents.
The nomination process involves submitting a recommendation letter, a statement of achievements, a resume, and supporting documents, all recommended by the head of the neighborhood community center or an institution within the area.

Mayor Ryu Kyung-gi of Jungnang-gu said, “This award was established to find citizens who shine and actively contribute in various fields in Jungnang-gu. We ask for your interest and recommendations so that those who can serve as role models for all residents and dedicate themselves to regional development can be selected.”

Marking its 25th year, the ‘Jungnang-gu Citizen Awards’ have honored 88 proud citizens and 2 organizations to date. Last year, three individuals, including Kang Seon-rye who received the Volunteer Award for contributing a total of 4,321 hours of volunteer work, and one organization were honored with awards.
