Songho Beach Sees 155% Increase in Tourists Compared to Last Year
Maintaining a COVID-Free Zone through Advance Reservation System Operation and Thorough Quarantine Measures
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Hyun] Haenam-gun, Jeollanam-do announced on the 20th that the number of visitors to Songho Beach, operated as a safe beach, increased by 155% compared to last year despite COVID-19.
During the one-month operation starting from the 18th of last month, 16,966 visitors came to Songho Beach. This is an increase of 6,043 visitors compared to 10,923 last year.
Despite the nationwide spread of COVID-19, the increase in visitors to Songho Beach is attributed to its operation as a ‘safe beach’ with a perfect quarantine system, attracting tourists seeking a clean area.
The safe beach requires visitors to make a reservation in advance and allows entry only after temperature checks and reservation confirmation at the main entrance, followed by wearing a QR wristband.
Additionally, 87 tent zones and parasol areas were operated with social distancing, and a professional disinfection company thoroughly disinfected all convenience facilities such as showers, restrooms, and drinking fountains more than three times a day.
In particular, to reduce crowding in the shower area, eight additional outdoor temporary showers were installed and operated free of charge.
For visitors who overlooked the mask-wearing mandate, safe quarantine kits including masks were distributed, actively promoting the normalization of mask-wearing.
To this end, the county deployed 50 personnel daily to conduct temperature checks twice a day, control entry and exit at the beach, and ensure thorough quarantine measures.
Operating with the priority on alleviating visitors’ anxiety and ensuring safety, no incidents or accidents occurred during the entire opening period, effectively preventing the spread of COVID-19.
Along with this, new content such as beach sand sculpture exhibitions, water leisure activities, and pet camping provided various attractions and experiences, significantly increasing visits from young people and family tourists.
