Tongyeong City Urges Diagnostic Testing for Visitors from Seoul Metropolitan Area Churches and Others

[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kang Sharon] Tongyeong City, Gyeongnam Province, announced on the 19th that attendees of Sarang Jeil Church and the August 15 Liberation Day rally between the 7th and 15th must visit COVID-19 screening clinics promptly for diagnostic testing from the 17th to the 29th.
Accordingly, the city has determined that preventing further spread is the top priority and is swiftly identifying visitors to the Liberation Day rally and churches in the Seoul metropolitan area.
While notifying 173 churches and other locations within the jurisdiction of the administrative order enforcement, the city is also establishing a cooperative system with related organizations such as police stations and medical institutions to respond to the current situation.
The city reported that about 73 people attended the Liberation Day rally, with current testing status at 33 people (8 negative, 25 pending), and emphasized the urgent need for rapid testing of untested individuals. To prevent community spread, a 24-hour testing system is being maintained, and a quarantine system is fully operational for a comprehensive response.
It was emphasized that those reluctant to be exposed can undergo testing anonymously.
Kang Seok-ju, Mayor of Tongyeong City, stated, "If anyone refuses to comply, they will be held responsible for all situations arising thereafter."

Additionally, citizens who have information about visitors to the August 15 Liberation Day rally and churches in the Seoul metropolitan area are encouraged to advise those visitors to get tested or contact the city health center.
