View original image[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Seo Young-seo] Muan County, Jeonnam (Governor Kim San) announced on the 18th that it has been making every effort to collect flood damage waste carried downstream from the upper reaches of the Yeongsan River due to heavy rain since the 10th.
The flood damage waste is mixed waste containing various types of household garbage, and if it decomposes due to high temperature and humidity, it causes severe odor and secondary pollution, so it must be collected and disposed of quickly.
The target area is about a 10km section from Gujeong-ri, Illo-eup to Namak-ri, Samhyang-eup, and the amount of waste is estimated to be about 6,000 tons.
So far, Muan County has deployed heavy equipment to collect 1,200 tons, which have been piled up, and plans to process the collected waste at a waste incineration facility in the future.
In addition, on the 13th, Ryu Yeon-gi, head of the Yeongsan River Environmental Basin Office, who visited the waste collection site at the mouth of the Yeongsan River, explained the need for national treasury support for waste disposal and requested 2 billion won in national funds.

Governor Kim San said, “A large amount of waste has been carried downstream due to this flood damage, which is expected to cause great inconvenience to residents living near the mouth of the Yeongsan River,” and added, “We will do our best to complete the restoration of the Yeongsan River as soon as possible.”
