Gwangju Seo-gu Goes All Out for Proactive Forest Pest Control
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters, Reporter Yoon Jamin] Seo-gu, Gwangju Metropolitan City (Mayor Seo Daeseok) is making every effort to proactively control forest pests and diseases after the rainy season.
According to Seo-gu on the 18th, this year, frequent rain and lower-than-average temperatures have created favorable conditions for the outbreak of pests and diseases. As a result, the American white moth, which was rampant last year, has been detected in various locations, making urgent control measures necessary.
Accordingly, the district plans to conduct tree injections in commercial and residential areas with heavy foot traffic to avoid inconvenience to citizens, while pest control in other areas will be carried out through spraying methods.
This pest control effort will target approximately 6,000 trees, including zelkova and alder trees planted along 55 routes, including Sangmu Jungang-ro, following the first round of control conducted from May to June.
