"Nominee for Commissioner of National Tax Service Suspected of Fictitious Address Registration to Boost Subscription Points"
[Asia Economy Reporter Jang Sehee] On the 17th, Yoo Kyung-joon, a member of the United Future Party, revealed allegations that Kim Dae-ji, the nominee for Commissioner of the National Tax Service, engaged in three instances of false address registration for the purposes of housing subscription and children's education.
In the personnel hearing materials submitted to Representative Yoo on the same day, Kim stated that his mother moved her address to his home in Jamsil-dong, Songpa-gu, Seoul in August 2010. Subsequently, the address of Kim's family was moved to his sister-in-law's apartment in Yeoksam-dong, Gangnam-gu, Seoul after five months.
Kim, his elderly mother, wife, daughter, and sister-in-law?five people in total?lived together in a three-room house. The residence period was approximately 10 months, from January 2011 to November 2011.
Representative Yoo said, "It appears that the address of the elderly mother was changed for real estate investment purposes such as housing subscription points based on the number of dependents," adding, "We requested the housing subscription application details of Kim and his spouse, but not only was the submission refused, even viewing was denied."
Representative Yoo also stated, "When Kim returned from his study abroad in Canada in 2009 and moved to Jamsil, he maintained his address at Eunma Apartment in Daechi-dong, Gangnam-gu, Seoul." Yoo claims this is presumed to be a false address registration to prevent his daughter from transferring schools.
Kim has declared a leasehold right on an LH rental apartment in Jagok-dong, Gangnam-gu, Seoul under his name, and a leasehold right on an apartment in Bukahyeon-dong, Seodaemun-gu, Seoul under his spouse's name.
Representative Yoo explained, "The LH rental apartment in Jagok-dong is a divided payment rental housing where ownership can be obtained after paying the deposit, intermediate payment, and balance, and if converted to sale, a market price gain of over 600 million KRW is expected," adding, "Given that the family resides in the apartment in Bukahyeon-dong, holding the LH rental apartment is for investment purposes rather than actual residence."
Regarding the false address registration allegations, Kim's side explained, "The address was changed due to the mother's poor health and hospital treatment," and "The reason for maintaining the address after returning from Canada was because the daughter had difficulties adapting to a new school, and it was not for speculative purposes or higher school assignment."
