A task more urgent than health insurance work. They willingly rushed to those who had to wait for someone’s help to regain their ‘health.’
The mission of the ‘Geonigangi’ team that day was flood recovery. This volunteer group is an in-house employee volunteer team deployed by the National Health Insurance Service Busan-Gyeongnam Regional Headquarters (Director Jang Su-mok) and the Geochang branch to sites damaged by flooding during recent heavy rains.
The Geonigangi team dismantled the flood-damaged vinyl greenhouses, organized household items, and cleaned up.
The site was trapped in a heatwave, making every movement breathless. The sweat poured out by the members as they removed the soil and debris scattered disorderly on houses and roads swelled like water buckets.
Jang Su-mok, director of the Busan-Gyeongnam Regional Headquarters, said, “I am grateful to the employees who actively stepped forward to help the local community amid the continuous heatwave following the heavy rain.”
