Hwasun-gun, All-Out Effort to Restore Forest Damage from Heavy Rainfall

According to the county on the 13th, an average of 279.5mm (maximum 410mm in Iseo-myeon) of heavy rain fell intensively amid a recent heavy rain warning.
The county's Forestry Industry Division deployed all staff except essential personnel to 13 eup and myeon sites on the 9th and 10th to intensively inspect landslide-prone areas such as rural houses near forests and remote mountainous areas with little traffic.
Dangerous areas were immediately given emergency restoration.
As of 9 a.m. on the 11th, the provisional tally of forestry sector damage includes ▲20 sites of forest road soil erosion ▲20 trees submerged in Dongguri Lake Park ▲deck loss on the walking trail in Suman-ri Ecological Forest Park ▲subsidence and soil erosion on 14 sections of the Manyeonsa Five Senses Connection Trail ▲flooding and soil outflow in Hancheon and Baegasan Recreational Forest, totaling 40 cases.
The damage amount was estimated at 2 billion KRW.
The county immediately restricted access to dangerous sections upon damage occurrence, is thoroughly investigating the forestry damage situation, and is inspecting hazardous areas to prevent secondary damage while undertaking permanent restoration of the damage.
