Busan Automotive High School announced on the 12th that 36 third-year students in the parts processing course at the school passed the NCS-based process evaluation type Computer-Aided Manufacturing Industrial Engineer exam on July 30.
The school achieved the result of producing the highest number of high school industrial engineer passers nationwide for four consecutive years.
The NCS-based process evaluation type qualification exam requires candidates to complete more than 630 hours of education and training to be eligible to take the exam, and they must score 80 points or higher in both internal and external evaluations to be granted the qualification, unlike the existing certification type.
The existing certification type grants the qualification if candidates score 60 points or higher in both the written and practical exams.
Thirty-nine third-year students in the parts processing course at the school took the Computer-Aided Manufacturing Industrial Engineer exam from July 13 to 17 (five days), taking the first written exam and practical competency interview, and the second practical test. As a result, 36 students (92.3%) passed the final exam.
Student Lee Young-bin, who passed the industrial engineer exam, said, “Due to COVID-19 delaying in-person classes, the preparation period for the exam was short, so I stayed after school to practice and study.”
These successful students are further preparing for the Mechanical Processing Assembly Technician and Mechanical Design Technician exams tailored to their individual characteristics.
They are also preparing for the certification type Mechanical Design Industrial Engineer exam, which can be taken by graduates (or prospective graduates) of two- or three-year junior colleges, or four-year universities.
Since 2017, Busan Automotive High School has been the first high school nationwide to produce Computer-Aided Manufacturing Industrial Engineers, maintaining the highest level nationwide with a pass rate of over 90% annually.
In particular, as a result of operating the Automotive Maintenance Industrial Engineer course last May, the school also achieved the milestone of producing the first high school student Automotive Maintenance Industrial Engineer nationwide.
