Kumho Tire "Non-regular Workers' Union, Stop Disruptive Actions"
[Asia Economy Reporter Kiho Sung] Kumho Tire, struggling due to the seizure of its corporate bank account by the irregular workers' union, has announced an immediate halt to the obstructive actions.
On the 11th, Kumho Tire released a statement saying, "The irregular workers' union recently filed a report with the police for a rally resolution to fight for employment and succession of collective agreements."
It added, "They also notified the subcontractors' council of the breakdown of this year's collective bargaining and their intention to proceed with a dispute mediation application," criticizing, "This is a clear obstructive act pushing an already struggling company to the brink."
The company stated, "Due to the union's account seizure, we have been unable to pay suppliers, vacation pay, and allowances, and if the seizure prolongs, it will lead to a decline in company credibility, liquidity crisis, and make normalizing factory operations difficult."
It continued, "In this situation, the irregular workers' branch's rally report and dispute mediation application notification cast a shadow over our management's determination to do everything possible to survive and secure future competitiveness."
