HiteJinro Steps Up to Support Flood-Affected Ssokbangchon Neighborhoods in Blind Spots
[Asia Economy Reporter Choi Saeng-hye] HiteJinro has stepped up to support residents of shantytown areas who are overlooked in flood relief efforts.
On the 11th, HiteJinro announced that it will provide samgyetang and bottled water to cancer patients in shantytowns who need more physical care during the summer and to residents suffering from nutritional deficiencies.
On the same day, HiteJinro supported 10,000 bottles of Seoksu water to the Yeongdeungpo shantytown in Seoul and will supply 100 servings of samgyetang once a week for a month, totaling 400 servings. For the remainder of the summer, the company plans to continue discussions with the shantytown community to provide additional necessary supplies to ensure residents' health and safety. For this Chuseok, they plan to provide songpyeon and hangwa, and in the cold winter months, they will offer thermal underwear to help residents stay warm.
HiteJinro, which has conducted various support projects in shantytowns every year, provided 18,000 bottles of Seoksu water and 2,500 baeksulgi rice cakes to 2,000 people, including shantytown residents in Seoul and homeless people at Seoul Station’s ‘Warm Filling Center,’ earlier this year to help overcome COVID-19. In June, they also delivered 40,000 bottles of Seoksu water.

Ryu Jun-hyung, Executive Director in charge of HiteJinro’s social contribution, said, “We judged that support for vulnerable groups in shantytowns, who may receive less attention due to recent floods, is even more necessary. We hope this support will help shantytown residents have a healthy summer, even if only a little.”
