Shinhan Card to Hold the 19th "Little Picasso Art Contest"
Over 160,000 Participants Since 2002
Open to All Children Aged 4 and Above Online
[Asia Economy, reporter Ha-Young Ki] Shinhan Card announced on August 11 that it will hold the "19th Shinhan Card Little Picasso Art Contest" as a digital competition based on a mobile application.
This contest, which marks its 19th edition this year since its launch in 2002, has attracted over 160,000 participants to date. Since 2018, with the support of the Ministry of Gender Equality and Family, the grand prize winners have been awarded the Minister of Gender Equality and Family Award.
Starting this year, the contest's prestige has been elevated with new sponsorship from the "Bologna Children's Book Fair (BCBF)," which organizes the Italian children's literature award, and the "Bologna Illustrators Exhibition 2020 (BIE)," which hosts the Bologna Children's Book Fair.
BCBF and BIE provide original illustrations by artists selected by the world's top experts. Participants can download these works from the Shinhan Card website and reinterpret them in their own style to submit as entries.
This year's contest consists of three categories: kindergarten (age 4 and above), lower elementary (grades 1-3), and upper elementary (grades 4-6). Four preliminary rounds will be held from August to November, each taking place from the second Wednesday to the fourth Wednesday of every month.
For the first preliminary round, participants can apply on the Shinhan Card website from August 12 to August 26, and then complete their entry by uploading their drawing-created using the Autodesk SketchBook application-to Instagram with the hashtag #꼬마피카소그림대회 (#LittlePicassoArtContest).
During the contest period, all submitted works will be reviewed by the Korea Fine Arts Association. Awards will be given to a total of 15 participants: Grand Prize (3), Excellence Award (3), Merit Award (3), Special Award (3), and Popularity Award (3), the latter chosen by public vote.
