Jeju Air Pilot Tests Positive for COVID-19... Contacts and Movement Being Traced
[Asia Economy Reporter Hwang Yoon-joo] It has been confirmed that one flight crew member of Jeju Air tested positive for the novel coronavirus infection (COVID-19) on the 7th.
According to the aviation industry on the 7th, the Jeju Air flight crew member underwent a COVID test the previous day, but the result was ambiguous, falling in the borderline range between positive and negative. Upon retesting on the same day, the crew member was confirmed positive.
It is known that this crew member had visited the Aviation Support Center building next to the terminal at Gimpo International Airport on the 5th. After learning of the crew member's positive diagnosis, Jeju Air sent early dismissal notices to the office workers who had been in the same office as the crew member and carried out disinfection procedures in the office and other areas. They also notified Korea Airports Corporation, which operates Gimpo Airport, of this fact.
The Aviation Support Center visited by the crew member is a separate building from the terminal where general passengers pass through. According to Jeju Air, thermal imaging cameras and other equipment are installed at the building entrance, preventing entry if a person shows fever symptoms.
