Gyeonggi-do Provides Emergency Injection of 2.6 Billion Won in 'Disaster Management Fund' to 31 Cities and Counties
[Asia Economy (Uijeongbu) = Reporter Lee Young-gyu] Gyeonggi Province will provide a total of 2.6 billion KRW in emergency support to 31 cities and counties in the province affected by heavy rain.
The province announced that by the 10th, it will provide 200 million KRW each to four cities and counties with severe flood damage: Yongin, Paju, Gapyeong, and Yeoncheon. Earlier, on the 4th, it provided a total of 600 million KRW, 200 million KRW each, to three areas with significant damage such as Icheon, Anseong, and Yeoju, where reservoirs collapsed.
Additionally, the province decided to provide 50 million KRW each to the remaining 24 cities and counties for emergency restoration and proactive preparedness. In total, 2.6 billion KRW will be supported across all 31 cities and counties in the province.
Kim Hee-gyeom, the First Deputy Governor of Gyeonggi Province, said at the heavy rain response situation assessment meeting held at the provincial government disaster situation room that day, "We plan to support the provincial disaster management fund for minimum emergency restoration," and urged, "Each city and county should mobilize all available resources to restore the damage as quickly as possible."
He also requested, "Please pay special attention to the housing issues of disaster victims by utilizing prefabricated houses or vacant rental houses, as Governor Lee Jae-myung proposed to President Moon Jae-in," and added, "Please find ways to quickly assist flood victims through civic groups and volunteer organizations."
