Mirae Asset Launches ETF Investing in Chinese Semiconductor, Robot, and AI Sectors
Two New ETFs Listed on Hong Kong Stock Exchange... Available for Investment Domestically as Well
[Asia Economy Reporter Minwoo Lee] Mirae Asset Global Investments is launching exchange-traded funds (ETFs) on the Hong Kong Stock Exchange that invest in China's semiconductor, robotics, and artificial intelligence (AI) sectors.
Mirae Asset Global Investments Hong Kong announced on the 7th (local time) that it will list two ETFs on the Hong Kong Stock Exchange: the 'Global X China Semiconductor ETF' and the 'Global X China Robotics & AI ETF.'
The 'Global X China Semiconductor ETF' invests in major Chinese semiconductor-related stocks expected to grow based on strong government fiscal and policy support. The underlying index, the FactSet China Semiconductor Index, recorded a 111.7% return over the past year as of the end of last month.
Compared to other sectors, China's semiconductor industry has relatively low self-sufficiency, but as major purchasers such as domestic IT hardware and internet platform companies rapidly grow, semiconductor development is also increasing.
The 'Global X China Robotics & AI ETF' invests in Chinese robotics and AI-related stocks and tracks the FactSet China Robotics & Artificial Intelligence Index. China accounts for 37% of global robot demand, and with government-level support for the robotics industry, it is considered a promising new growth sector.
Both products invest in up to 25 stocks, with a maximum investment limit of 7% per stock. They can be traded in two currencies: Hong Kong dollars (HKD) and US dollars (USD). Domestic investors can also invest through securities firms that allow overseas stock trading, such as Mirae Asset Daewoo.
