He called these reports "blatant falsehoods" and said they were "speculative reports judged to be intentional and malicious."
Chairman Han issued a statement that day, saying, "The report that I had a phone call with lawyer Kwon Kyung-ae just before MBC's report (March 31) on the alleged collusion between a Channel A reporter and the prosecutor is a clear falsehood," and added, "The call time was 9:09 PM, more than an hour after the MBC report was released." He also disclosed the call records supporting his claim. Chairman Han said, "The content of the call with lawyer Kwon was unrelated to the MBC report. It is not true that I had prior knowledge of the Channel A case before the MBC report on March 31."
He further emphasized, "Speculative reports based on falsehoods, such as claiming prior knowledge of MBC's report, are judged to be intentional and malicious," and stressed, "I will hold Chosun, JoongAng, and any subsequent reports containing the same falsehoods strictly legally accountable."

Earlier, lawyer Kwon Kyung-ae (55, Judicial Research and Training Institute class 33), a Minbyun member, posted that she received a phone call from "someone who oversees broadcasting and attends weekly meetings presided over by the president," saying that a report to definitely oust Prosecutor Han Dong-hoon was going to be released. Some media outlets speculated that Chairman Han was the person referred to. On her SNS, lawyer Kwon wrote, "A few hours before MBC's report on the recordings of Han Dong-hoon and the Channel A reporter, I received a phone call urging me to stop Facebook because Han Dong-hoon would definitely be ousted and a report about it would soon come out," and added, "It was hard to accept this as advice from a senior who cared for me because his position was too high. He is someone who attends weekly meetings presided over by the president and oversees broadcasting."
