Gimje-si Provides Non-Face-to-Face Health Services Using Smartphones
Selected for Mobile Healthcare Pilot Project
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Hong Jaehee] The Health Center of Gimje City, Jeonbuk, has been selected for the Korean New Deal public project, a pilot project for mobile healthcare using smartphones.
On the 6th, the Health Center announced that it was selected for the mobile healthcare pilot project hosted by the Ministry of Health and Welfare and the Korea Health Promotion Institute, enabling the provision of non-face-to-face health services.
The mobile healthcare pilot project is a program that provides customized health management services through a smartphone health management application.
This project targets citizens aged 19 to under 64 who have one or more health risk factors such as high blood pressure or blood sugar from health checkup results, abdominal obesity, high triglycerides, or low HDL cholesterol.
However, participants must possess a smartphone registered under their own name, and those already diagnosed with hypertension, diabetes, or dyslipidemia or currently taking medication are excluded.
Selected participants must visit the health center three times over six months for examinations, and through a wristwatch-type activity tracker linked to the mobile app, they will receive personalized health management services such as dietary and exercise guidance from nurses, nutritionists, and exercise therapists.
A health center official said, “It is expected that non-face-to-face health services through mobile apps and smart devices will be possible without time and space constraints for residents whose access to health management services has been limited due to COVID-19,” adding, “This will help prevent chronic diseases in the region and improve self-health management capabilities.”
