Before the briefing, Lee Jeong-hoon, Mayor of Gangdong-gu, said, "Despite the heavy rain, many residents came. I believe this reflects the strong interest in attracting the GTX-D line to Gangdong-gu. I hope this briefing will help form a consensus among residents." He added, "Gangdong-gu is expected to grow into a city of 550,000 people in the next three years, so future transportation demand will be very high. It is the only district in Seoul where subway lines 5, 8, and 9 extension projects are underway, and we will make further efforts to have the GTX-D line pass through Gangdong, which will change the transportation map of Gangdong."
