Proactive Management of Construction Site Hazards Through Intelligent Mobile CCTV and Wearable Cameras
[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Jong-hwa] Security specialist ADT Caps announced on the 6th that it will actively commercialize Internet of Things (IoT) solutions for managing industrial safety at construction sites and other locations.
Recently, ADT Caps established the "Smart Safety Platform" at SK Construction headquarters to serve as a safety control room for preventing accidents at construction sites. This integrated system monitors worker safety through intelligent mobile CCTVs and wearable cameras, and allows real-time monitoring of work status via an online dashboard. When abnormal signals are detected by IoT sensors, notifications are simultaneously sent to workers, site supervisors, and headquarters officials, enabling rapid initial response.
For worker safety management, workers must authenticate biometric information such as hand vein, iris, or facial recognition when entering the site, and pass an automatic alcohol test before being allowed entry. Workers in hazardous zones or those who are elderly or have high-risk diseases are provided with a "Smart Band" to monitor their work location and heart rate data in real time.
Additionally, CCTV video sensors identify whether protective gear is worn and provide guidance, and analyze worker movements to sound an alarm in case of falls or collapses to respond to emergencies. High-risk equipment such as excavators and forklifts are equipped with an "access control system" that automatically recognizes nearby workers to prevent collision accidents.
