Busan City Supports Small Business Brand Promotion View original image

[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Yong-woo] Busan City and the Busan Economic Promotion Agency are carrying out the ‘Small Business Brand and Knowledge Service Quality Improvement Project’ to enhance the brand quality and competitiveness of small business owners.

Through this project, the city selected 251 out of about 280 cases recruited in the first half of this year and provided services. This year, due to the preference for non-face-to-face consumption caused by COVID-19, many applications were concentrated on website and video production.

The performance of the small business platform ‘Ham, Bakkabokka,’ completed in 2019, is noteworthy. The existing support method for small business owners through public contests took a long time from selecting the target and executing companies to producing results, and had the disadvantage of having to accept unwanted outcomes.

On the other hand, this Small Business Brand and Knowledge Service Quality Improvement Project simplified the complicated administrative procedures for small business owners through the platform called ‘Ham, Bakkabokka,’ and was evaluated as enabling easy and fast communication between demanders and suppliers.

Design and knowledge service support for small business owners is composed of 10 packages in 4 fields: visual design, industrial design, video design, and knowledge services. If one company applies for one type of package, support is provided within 1 million KRW.

‘Visual Design’ consists of 4 packages: brand, packaging, website, and editorial design. It supports brand packages such as corporate image (CI), brand identity (BI), signboards, and business cards; packaging packages such as packaging boxes, wrapping paper, labels, and stickers; website production packages; and editorial design packages including catalogs, posters, brochures, business plans, and PPT production.

‘Industrial Design’ supports product design such as 3D rendering and modeling; ‘Video Design’ supports photography and promotional video shooting and production; and ‘Knowledge Services’ supports tax and accounting services.

The support method is to request design from local companies in related fields. Demanders check the company portfolio, select the desired company, and receive the final results through mutual consultation. After reviewing the final results, awards such as Grand Prize, Gold, Silver, and Bronze will be given to selected excellent companies.

This project benefits not only the demanders but also the suppliers who receive the work. Both demanders and suppliers must have business locations in Busan, and demanders are limited to small business owners.

Applications are accepted on a first-come, first-served basis starting from the 6th through the Busan Small Business Platform ‘Ham Bakkabokka.’ Demanders submit support application forms, and suppliers (companies, freelancers) submit business registration certificates, portfolios, and other supporting documents for qualification review and final selection.

Lee Yoon-jae, Director of the Livelihood and Labor Policy Bureau of Busan City, explained, “The purpose of this project is to add value to the brands and products of small business owners to increase competitiveness and added value, and to provide work opportunities to companies and talents in the local knowledge service industry, which is poor and lacks jobs.”
