Gangbuk-gu Expands Non-Face-to-Face Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation Training
After a pilot run with high response, regular sessions held every Tuesday from August 11... Lectures via remote video conferencing program... Applications available via emergency medical education center email
[Asia Economy Reporter Jongil Park] Gangbuk-gu (Mayor Park Kyum-soo) is expanding non-face-to-face cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) training.
Due to the closure of the emergency medical training center caused by the spread of the novel coronavirus infection (COVID-19), the district conducted a pilot non-face-to-face CPR training twice on July 21 and 28 as a supplementary measure. Due to the high response from participants, the district decided to operate the program regularly.
The lectures will be held every Tuesday from 3 to 5 p.m. from August 11 to October 27.
Those who wish to attend can apply via email to the emergency medical training center (rlarkgus28@gangbuk.go.kr) at least 7 days before the training date. The district plans to select participants considering preparation factors such as the ability to use computers, smartphones, and the internet.
The remote video conferencing program Zoom will be used for learning. The district will conduct a pre-check of device status and system usability, distribute equipment such as mannequins and automated external defibrillators to participants, and then conduct the course.
The lectures will be conducted by professional instructors who are first-class emergency medical technicians. Participants will confirm attendance through their personal smartphones, watch lecture materials and videos, observe the instructor’s demonstrations, and practice chest compressions directly using light-indicating mannequins that show compression depth.
At this time, an app that measures the speed of chest compressions through movement will be used to provide real-time correction of compression speed.
The district expects that using non-face-to-face training will reduce crowd density among participants and lower the risk of COVID-19 infection.
Mayor Park Kyum-soo of Gangbuk-gu said, “As it is difficult for large groups to gather due to COVID-19, we prepared non-face-to-face training so that residents can learn and acquire how to respond to cardiac arrest. We will continue to raise awareness of the importance of CPR among residents and do our best to protect their precious lives.”
