Jeongdong Theater Brunch Concert 'Yang Junmo's Opera Date' First In-Person Performance of the Year
On the 19th at 11 AM at Jeongdong Theater... Tenor Shin Sang-geun and Soprano Lee Min-jung as Special Guests
[Asia Economy Reporter Park Byung-hee] Jeongdong Theater will hold the third stage of the 2020 Jeongdong Theater Brunch Concert 'Yang Jun-mo's Opera Date' at 11 a.m. on the 19th.
'Yang Jun-mo's Opera Date' is an opera talk concert with commentary, where musical actor and tenor Yang Jun-mo invites a new guest each time to share conversations and performances on different themes.
Jeongdong Theater planned 'Yang Jun-mo's Opera Date' as a brunch concert at 11 a.m. with all seats priced at 10,000 KRW to popularize opera, a somewhat unfamiliar genre to the public in 2020. Four performances were planned this year, and the first and second performances on May 1 and June 24 were held as audience-free online broadcasts to prevent the spread of COVID-19.
The third performance on the 19th will be the first time this year to welcome an audience at the theater. The third performance will feature world-renowned tenor Shin Sang-geun and soprano Lee Min-jung under the theme 'Musical Stories in Opera.'
Tenor Shin Sang-geun is a world-class artist who recently debuted as the first Asian 'Romeo' in the New York Metropolitan Opera's 'Romeo and Juliet,' the dream stage for vocalists, receiving praise from The New York Times. Soprano Lee Min-jung has performed in 'La Boh?me,' 'Carmen,' and 'La Traviata' on stages in Vienna, Austria; M?nster, Bochum, Karlsruhe, and Olomouc in Germany; and Paris, France. Tenor Shin Sang-geun and soprano Lee Min-jung have prepared a special time to experience the charms of both musicals and opera through operas based on musicals in this performance.
Tenor Shin Sang-geun will sing 'Ah! leve-toi, soleil!' from Gounod's opera 'Romeo and Juliet,' and soprano Lee Min-jung will sing 'Ah! Je veux vivre' from 'Romeo and Juliet.' Shin Sang-geun, Lee Min-jung, and host tenor Yang Jun-mo will perform the famous aria 'Brindisi' from Verdi's opera 'La Traviata' together.
