Yongin City Provides 600,000 Won Support to Taxi Drivers Affected by COVID-19
[Asia Economy (Yongin) = Reporter Lee Young-gyu] Yongin City in Gyeonggi Province will provide emergency living stabilization funds to help taxi drivers, who are struggling due to a decrease in passengers caused by the prolonged COVID-19 pandemic, stabilize their livelihoods.
The support targets 2,170 individuals, including individual taxi drivers with business establishments in Yongin City from March 24 until the application date, and taxi corporation drivers continuously employed during the same period.
Yongin City plans to provide 600,000 KRW per person in emergency living stabilization funds through the local currency 'Yongin Y- Pay.'
Eligible taxi drivers can submit the application form and required documents to their affiliated corporation or the individual taxi association from the 10th to the 21st of this month.
The city plans to verify eligibility and then disburse the support funds to applicants.

Mayor Baek Gun-gi of Yongin City explained, "We decided to provide emergency living stabilization funds as quickly as possible with the hope that it will offer some help to taxi drivers who are facing difficulties due to a sharp decline in income caused by the prolonged COVID-19 pandemic."
