Gwangyang Jungang Library Runs 'Maker Education' Online for Summer Vacation
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Lee Hyung-kwon] Gwangyang Central Library announced on the 4th that it will operate the maker education, which was postponed due to COVID-19, online during the summer vacation.
Maker education is a course where participants can create characters from comics using 3D pens and 3D printers and experience making and flying their own drones.
The education is conducted for children and adolescents using 3D pens and 3D printers, and includes drone making in which the whole family forms a team to participate. Various materials needed for the education will be delivered to each household in advance by courier.
Applications will be accepted on a first-come, first-served basis from 10 a.m. on the 5th through the Gwangyang City Library website. For more details, contact Gwangyang Central Library.
Ko Geun-seong, Director of Library Operations, said, “Considering COVID-19, the program will be operated online so that the whole family can safely enjoy it at home,” and added, “The library will further expand various creative programs integrated with information technology (IT).”

Meanwhile, Gwangyang Central Library was selected in April for the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism’s ‘2020 Public Library Maker Program Support Project’.
