Gokseong-gun, This Summer's Vacation Spot is Dorimsa Valley with Resolved Water Shortage
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Chunsu] This summer, Dorimsa Valley, a well-known summer resort frequently visited by people from Gwangju and Jeonnam regions, is expected to attract attention.
Gokseong-gun, Jeonnam announced on the 3rd that it has resolved the water shortage issue in Dorimsa Valley by using reservoir water.
Dorimsa Valley has faced difficulties with decreasing water volume during dry seasons compared to the past. To address this, Gokseong-gun pumped river water in 1998, but stopped the water supply due to algae growth in the valley.
To solve the problem, the county implemented the Wolbong District Surface Water Reinforcement Development Project and renovated the water pipeline connected to the upper stream of the valley. As a result, it became possible to draw water from a nearby reservoir, enabling the supply of clean water.
The Wolbong District Surface Water Reinforcement Development Project is aimed at reinforcing water facilities to provide a stable water supply in areas lacking rural water. The project cost 500 million KRW. Through this project, Gokseong-gun achieved a twofold effect by solving both rural water supply issues and the water shortage problem in Dorimsa Valley.
