The Korea Forest Service announced on the 3rd that from this month until the end of this year, as part of the third supplementary budget project (branding of 100 famous mountains), it will conduct the establishment of a forest trail network and a survey of forest tourism resources.
The establishment of the network and the resource survey are expected to serve as a basis for using smartphone apps for navigation services without relying on maps.
First, the network establishment project focuses on the Korea Forest Service collaborating with the private sector to secure basic data (DB) based on actual hiking trajectories used by the public.
Alongside this, the resource survey project aims to build basic data on tourism resources related to forests, centered on the 100 famous mountains nationwide, including recreational forests, healing forests, premium forests, and forest leisure facilities.
After completion in January next year, both projects will provide data to the private sector through the public data website operated by the Ministry of the Interior and Safety.
