Assemblyman Shin Jeong-hoon: "Naju SRF Public-Private Partnership Governance Agreement, Best Effort for Prompt Resolution"
Policy Meeting with Naju SRF Coalition
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters, Reporter Yoon Jamin] National Assembly member Shin Jeong-hoon held a policy meeting with the Citizens' Committee Against the Use of Waste Fuel at Naju Combined Heat and Power Plant (hereafter, the Committee) and stated, “We will do our best to ensure that the Naju SRF public-private cooperation governance agreement is reached promptly,” including arranging a top-level negotiation among the responsible institutions for loss compensation, hosted by the lawmaker's office.
At the policy meeting held at National Assembly member Shin Jeong-hoon's office at 2 p.m. on the 1st, Shin and the Committee shared the recognition that with less than two months remaining until the governance agreement deadline on the 25th of next month, loss compensation negotiations have shown no progress, and they agreed to urge the responsible parties in the governance for loss compensation to adopt a more proactive stance.
On that day, Kim Yong-in, chairman of the Committee, emphasized, “The loss compensation plan, which should be decided through negotiations among the four governance parties excluding the Committee, has been repeatedly postponed with no progress at all,” and stressed, “Active roles and efforts from the lawmaker's office are necessary.”
Member Shin Jeong-hoon said, “Since the governance agreement requires government consensus, the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy, Korea District Heating Corporation, Jeollanam-do Province, and Naju City must present realistic and reasonable measures.”
The biggest disagreement in the current discussions on loss compensation measures is whether to include the combustible municipal waste recycling facility jointly invested in by Gwangju City and others. The District Heating Corporation insists it should be included in the loss compensation target, but Naju City refuses to acknowledge this.
