President Moon's Approval Rating at 46.4%... Rebounds After 10 Weeks [Realmeter]
[Asia Economy Reporter Kang Nahum] A public opinion poll revealed that President Moon Jae-in's approval rating for his administration has stopped its nine-week decline and rebounded.
According to Realmeter, which conducted the survey commissioned by YTN from the 27th to the 31st of last month, the positive evaluation of President Moon's administration rose by 2.0 percentage points from the previous week's aggregate to 46.4%, announced on the 3rd. Negative evaluations fell by 2.8 percentage points to 49.4%.
The positive rating ended a nine-week consecutive decline since the third week of May and reversed to an upward trend. The gap between positive and negative evaluations narrowed to 3.0 percentage points, falling within the margin of error. Notably, the increase in positive ratings compared to the previous week is the first in 10 weeks since the third week of May (62.3%, up 0.6 percentage points).
The rise in positive evaluations was particularly notable in Daegu·Gyeongbuk (up 8.4 percentage points), Gyeonggi·Incheon (up 4.6 percentage points), women (up 4.3 percentage points), people in their 20s (up 6.9 percentage points), and students (up 9.0 percentage points), whereas Seoul (up 1.0 percentage point) and office workers (up 1.2 percentage points) showed an upward trend in negative evaluations.
Realmeter analyzed the rise in support, stating, "Efforts such as promoting the relocation of the administrative capital and addressing real estate issues likely influenced the increase in support," while adding, "However, it also strongly reflects a natural rebound following a prolonged decline."
Regarding party support, the Democratic Party of Korea rose by 0.8 percentage points to 38.3%, while the United Future Party remained unchanged at 31.7%. The Justice Party increased by 0.2 percentage points to 4.9%, the Open Democratic Party fell by 0.6 percentage points to 3.8%, and the People’s Party decreased by 0.1 percentage points to 3.6%.
