View original image[Asia Economy Reporter Lim Juhyung] Park Ji-won, the Director of the National Intelligence Service (NIS), continues to communicate through social network services (SNS) even after receiving his presidential appointment letter. Previously, Director Park had announced that he would stop SNS activities to focus on the core duties of the NIS.
On the 2nd, in a post on his Facebook, Director Park expressed condolences to citizens affected by flood damage, saying, "I offer my sympathies to everyone suffering from the flood damage," and recalled an old saying, "A three-month drought can be endured, but three days of heavy rain is hard to bear."
He added, "I was going to go with my wife and the kids, but it was postponed due to heavy rain," and "I will pray for peace on the Korean Peninsula."
Earlier, after being nominated as the NIS director candidate, Director Park had stated that he would "stop SNS activities." On the 3rd of last month, he wrote on his Facebook, "I thank President Moon Jae-in for appointing me as a candidate," and added, "From now on, I will not mention even the word 'politics' and will devote myself to the core duties of the NIS and its reform. I will also stop SNS activities and phone communications."
However, Director Park has since continued indirect communication by sharing posts he wrote in the past, posts from acquaintances, and music videos on his SNS account.
