Emart Launches 'National Health Project' Part 1: Limited Sale of Lutein for 3,000 Won
[Asia Economy Reporter Minyoung Cha] Emart announced on the 2nd that it will introduce lutein as the first product of the 'National Health Project' aimed at taking care of the health of all citizens.
Emart's National Health Project is a campaign that collaborates with excellent health functional food companies to offer health supplements so that all citizens can manage their health without burden. They plan to continuously release products reflecting seasonal and social trends, including red ginseng, probiotics, and vitamins.
The first product of the National Health Project is 'National Lutein (500mg x 30 capsules)'. To commemorate the launch, a limited quantity of 25,000 units will be sold at a 50% discount from the regular price, at 3,900 KRW. After the event ends, it will be sold at the regular price of 7,800 KRW. Lutein helps maintain macular pigment density, which can decrease due to aging, thereby supporting eye health.
National Lutein is produced by Cosmax NBT, a specialized manufacturer of health functional foods. Each capsule contains the maximum daily intake of 20mg of lutein. Additionally, eight functional ingredients including vitamin A, vitamin B1, vitamin B2, vitamin B12, vitamin E, beta-carotene, selenium, and zinc are added. The capsules are individually packed in PTP (press-through packaging) to block air, ensuring hygiene and making them easy to carry and store.
Public interest in health functional foods is increasing. According to Emart, sales of health functional foods increased by 13.6% last year, ranking first in sales growth among fresh and processed food categories. From January 1 to July 26 this year, sales rose even higher by 15.8%, influenced by the novel coronavirus infection (COVID-19).
