'COVID-19 Low-Income Livelihood Support Committee' Survey of 1,000 Citizens

According to Daegu City on the 2nd, the 'COVID-19 Low-Income Livelihood Support Committee' (Chairman Professor Kim Tae-il of Yeungnam University) commissioned the Korea Customer Satisfaction Management Association to conduct a survey on the second round of livelihood fund payments over two days, July 23-24, targeting 1,000 Daegu citizens.
In this survey, 78% expressed support for the second round of livelihood fund payments. Positive evaluations of Daegu City's COVID-19 quarantine management response were 82%, and 72.1% said that the first round of livelihood funds helped stabilize their lives.
Daegu City explained that this survey was conducted to understand citizens' evaluations of the appropriateness of the COVID-19 response and their policy preferences regarding the second round of livelihood fund payments amid the prolonged COVID-19 situation.
Regarding the COVID-19 quarantine management response, 82% responded positively, which was much higher than the 14.7% who responded negatively. For future tasks, 69.5% requested a dual-track city administration direction of 'simultaneous promotion of quarantine and economic revitalization.'
Regarding the timing of the second round of livelihood fund payments, 84.3% agreed that it would be best to pay as soon as possible before Chuseok. As for the payment method, 42.9% preferred convenient cash or bank transfer, 17.7% preferred credit or debit cards, and 28.8% said it did not matter.
Kim Tae-il, chairman of the COVID-19 Low-Income Livelihood Support Committee, interpreted the survey results by saying, "It seems that citizens agreed to distribute the second round of support funds evenly to all citizens as a way to share solidarity and a sense of belonging as citizens."

He added, "It is important to provide the second round of livelihood funds before the effects of the first round of livelihood funds and the government emergency disaster relief funds disappear in the region, so as not to extinguish the spark of recovery," and said, "We are preparing to provide the second round of livelihood funds as soon as possible and to pay them before Chuseok."
