[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Jeong-ho] The news that actor Lee Wan (36), husband of professional golfer Lee Bo-mi (32), might appear as a caddie on the Korea Ladies Professional Golf Association (KLPGA) Tour has become a hot topic.

After finishing the third round of the KLPGA Tour Jeju Samdasoo Masters held on the 1st at Saint Four Golf & Resort in Jeju City, Jeju Island (par 72, 6,500 yards), Lee Bo-mi said, "I asked my husband to caddie for me at next week's tournament."

Furthermore, she said, "It is not confirmed yet, but it seems he can help," indicating that Lee Wan is positively considering making his caddie debut next week at the Orange Life Championship Trophy Park In-bee Invitational.

Lee Bo-mi tied the knot last December with Lee Wan, who is also known as the younger brother of actress Kim Tae-hee.

At this Jeju Samdasoo Masters tournament, Park In-bee (32) entrusted her caddie duties to her husband, professional golfer Nam Ki-hyup. This was because Brad Becher, an Australian caddie, could not enter Korea due to the impact of the novel coronavirus (COVID-19).

Lee Bo-mi mainly competes on the Japan Ladies Professional Golf Association (JLPGA) Tour, but due to travel restrictions between Korea and Japan caused by the spread of COVID-19, she has not been able to participate in Korean tournaments with her usual caddie.

Lee Bo-mi explained that Lee Wan currently knows her play well and is also skilled at golf.

Regarding this, Lee Bo-mi said, "The caddie and coach in Japan cannot enter Korea. My husband watches my play more closely than the caddie in Japan."

She added, "Right now, I am using a house caddie who does not know how I play. It would be good to have someone who can objectively judge my performance during matches. I hope my husband can help well."

Although Lee Wan has never carried her caddie bag, Lee Bo-mi revealed that when they go out for rounds together, they exchange advice.

In particular, she explained, "These days, I shoot around 80, and if I play well, I score in the low 70s. I am very good at putting, so if I just hit good tee shots, I get good scores."

Because Japan maintains entry restrictions as a COVID-19 countermeasure, Lee Bo-mi has not been able to compete on the Japanese stage despite the JLPGA Tour having started.
