Ulsan Mugeo Middle School's In-School Festival 'Sparkling Exhibition'
Presenting Free Semester Curriculum Activities as Artworks... Finding Joy Even Amid 'Corona'
[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters, Reporter Hong Jeonghwan] “Displaying the activities we did during class makes me feel like I’ve become an artist.”
Ulsan Mugeo Middle School held a ‘Sparkling Exhibition’ for four days starting on the 28th, where first-year students showcased their class activities as artworks, each adding their own touch of skill.
Due to the novel coronavirus disease (COVID-19), school life was challenging, with alternating face-to-face and remote classes to minimize contact. The students proudly displayed the results of their efforts through student-centered lessons at this ‘Sparkling Exhibition.’ The event was a huge hit. Students kept looking and laughing as they admired their friends’ ‘works.’
A teacher said, “We combined the existing collaborative class format with activities in the IT field to create opportunities for students to praise and evaluate each other’s learning outcomes. The ‘Sparkling Exhibition’ was held to lead new learning experiences.”
The exhibition was small but ‘sparkling,’ thanks to the efforts of teachers who united to provide meaningful time for students exhausted by COVID-19.
