Kolon, COVID-19 Overcoming Summer Blood Donation Campaign
[Asia Economy Reporter Hwang Yoon-joo] Kolon Group has launched an employee blood donation campaign to support the blood supply shortage caused by the novel coronavirus disease (COVID-19).
Kolon announced on the 29th that starting from the Kolon Industry FnC division workplace in Gangnam-gu, Seoul, the blood donation campaign will be sequentially held at eight workplaces nationwide, including Kolon One&Only Tower in Magok, Seoul, Gwacheon, Songdo, and Gumi, until the 30th. Jang Hee-gu, president of Kolon Industry and a rare blood type Rh(-) O, also participated in this blood donation.
Since 2013, Kolon has conducted blood donations twice a year during the unstable blood supply periods in summer and winter, donating a total of about 5,000 blood donation certificates until early this year. Especially this year, due to a sharp decrease in donors caused by COVID-19, the campaign is being conducted as part of the company-wide 'Add, Multiply, Divide' campaign that has been ongoing since early this year. The blood donation certificates donated by employees are delivered to the Korea Leukemia Children's Foundation and used for children suffering from pediatric cancer.
Kolon has carried out programs such as 'Adding Hearts,' which gifts masks to low-income children with employee donations; 'Multiplying Wisdom,' a lifestyle guide for COVID-19 prevention; and 'Multiplying 12,438 Helping Hands,' a hope store promoting local small business owners. Following April, the company is practicing the second blood donation campaign called 'Sharing Body Temperature.'
