A Man in His 40s Arrested for Killing One Churchgoer and Injuring Another Who Were Sleeping in Church
[Asia Economy Intern Reporter Min Jun-young] A man in his 40s who killed one person and injured another by striking a churchgoer sleeping in a church with a blunt weapon has been arrested by the police.
The Gunsan Police Department announced on the 28th that they have apprehended and are investigating A (45) on charges of murder and attempted murder.
A is accused of repeatedly hitting a woman in her 50s, B, who was sleeping at a church in Guam-dong, Gunsan-si, Jeonbuk, with a blunt weapon around 1:40 a.m. on the 27th, resulting in her death.
He is also charged with injuring a man in his 30s, C, who was nearby, by striking him with the blunt weapon.
At the time of the crime, three people including A and a pastor were present in the church, but the pastor was not struck by the blunt weapon.
It is known that they had been acquainted as pastor and churchgoers at a pioneering church in Incheon.
It is reported that A and others recently visited Gunsan to meet the pastor after the pastor moved the church from Incheon to Gunsan.
