A Woman in Her 20s Pretended to Be Female in Chats to Lure Male Upstairs Neighbors... "Complaints About Interfloor Noise"
[Asia Economy Intern Reporter Kim Bong-ju] The culprit who lured men to a false address under the pretense of arranging conditional meetings through an anonymous chat app, causing residents at the address to live in fear, was found to be a downstairs neighbor dissatisfied with noise from the upper floor.
On the 27th, the Gwangju Northern Police Station announced that they had booked Park Mo (26) without detention on charges of sending false addresses to men he chatted with on the app to induce visits (attempted trespassing as an indirect perpetrator).
Park is accused of luring three men on the morning of the 19th by pretending to be a woman on an anonymous chat app and telling them to come meet him.
To the men who showed interest in meeting, Park sent the address of the apartment above his own and even provided the password for the locked first-floor entrance door, according to the investigation.
From early morning until late morning, as men visited one after another and rang the doorbell, a startled resident reported it to the police, and one of the visitors was voluntarily taken by the police.
During the police investigation, the man stated, "A woman on the anonymous chat told me to come to this address if I wanted to meet her and even gave me the first-floor password."
The victim said that 4 to 5 men had visited, but after reviewing CCTV footage, it was confirmed that three men had actually visited.
Park turned himself in after seeing news that the police were tracking the suspect who lured men that day. He told the police, "I usually had complaints about the upstairs neighbor due to noise between floors, so I lured men through false chats."
The police plan to punish Park on charges of "attempted trespassing as an indirect perpetrator." However, the men who visited the house, deceived by Park's lies, will not be booked.
