According to the military, the government sent two KC-330s to Iraq around 7 a.m. on the 23rd to repatriate overseas nationals. With about 2,000 new COVID-19 cases reported daily in Iraq, military aircraft were deployed for rapid transport. Returning workers were divided into symptomatic and asymptomatic groups and boarded the KC-330. A government joint rapid response team, consisting of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ministry of National Defense, and medical staff (2 military doctors, 2 nursing officers, 4 quarantine officers), also accompanied them.
The returning workers will undergo quarantine inspection through a separate gate at Incheon International Airport. Symptomatic individuals will receive COVID-19 diagnostic tests at Incheon Airport, while asymptomatic individuals will be moved to temporary living facilities for testing. If confirmed positive, they will be transferred to medical institutions or residential treatment centers. If the test result is negative, they will be quarantined in temporary living facilities for two weeks until August 7.
